Cabbage is a densely leafy vegetable with green, white and purple leaves. Cabbage belongs to the ‘Cole crops’ of vegetables which are very close to the cauliflower family; the same group contains broccoli, celery, and Napa cabbage.

Cabbage was originated in Europe sometime before millennia which became a prominent ingredient in European cuisine by the 16th century. Cabbage head produced in the first year of cultivation which is harvested and the plant is left to produce seeds in the second year. The cabbage head can grow up to 4 kg.

Cabbage is commercially cultivated and produced in South Asian countries like China, India, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, and Japan.
