Jeera Rice Recipe | Flavoured Cumin Rice Recipe | Indian Food – Jeera Rice or Zeera rice is north Indian famous rice recipe. Variety in Jeera Rice such as Jeera Lemon Rice, Coconut Rice is found in other parts of India just by adding extra flavors. 

Jeera Rice is preferred when the heavy meal is served as Jeera(Cumin seed) is good for digestion. Jeera Rice became daily household recipe in Indian main course as it is easy to cook and having its own fragrant of cumin and mild spices.

Jeera Rice tastes good with dal fry, dal tadka, dal makhani. Fragranced Jeera Rice is also served with vegetable curries such as Malai Kofta, Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala and some non-veg curries too. Some Punjabi delicacies like Rajma, Chhole also goes well with Jeera Rice.

Ingredients
List of Ingredients of Delicious Jeera Rice Recipe:
  • 2 Rice (Basmati or as per preference)
  • 2 Olive Oil (Or as per your preference)
  • 1 Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 Bay Leaf (Tej Patta)
  • 4-7 Whole Black Pepper (Khadi Kali Mirch)
  • 1-2 Black Cardamom (Badi Ilaychi)
  • 3-4 Cloves (Long)
  • 1 Garam Masala
  • 1 Salt to taste
Instructions
Let Us Have A Look At Step Step Method To Make Jeera Rice Recipe:
  1. Before putting the cooking vessel on the stove, wash 2 cups of rice and soak it for approximately 20 minutes.

  2. Once rice gets soaked, put a deep cooking vessel and add 2 Teaspoon of Olive oil (or any preferred cooking oil or vegetable oil), let it get hot.

  3. Add 1 Teaspoon of Cumin(Jeera), 2 Bay leaves(Tej patta), 2 Black Cardamom(Badi Ilaychi), 3 to 4 Cloves(Long), 4 to 7 Whole Black Pepper(Khadi Kali Mirch).  

  4. Saute all spices for 30 seconds till it gets crackled and become brown.

  5. Add soaked rice and saute it for 2 minutes.

  6. Add some salt to taste, 1 teaspoon of Garam Masala powder, sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.  

  7. Close the lid and let it cook for approximate 10 minutes on low flame till the water get absorbed. You can check rice if it is cooked or not just by pressing some rice grains. Cook till the rice becomes tender. 

  8. Open the lid and Jeera fragmented steamy delicious Jeera rice is ready to serve. Jeera Rice is easy to cook and the combination of Jeera aids to digestion.

  9. Garnish it with some coriander leaves. Serve steamy hot Jeera rice with any curry or Dal Tadka or Dal Fry.
