Besan Broccoli is an Indian side dish. We do not generally use broccoli much in Indian cuisine.This is the best way to incorporate broccoli into your meal. This is very easy and delicious recipe.This dish is made of made of gram flour, garlic, a mix of spices & lemon juice.

Broccoli belongs to the cabbage family, finds its origin in Roman Empire. Today Broccoli is served everywhere, highly produced in China and India.

Broccoli will provide you with the vitamin C, and vitamin K. Broccoli can be served as the main course, or one can make a good salad using boiled broccoli.

People who hate cauliflower, for them Broccoli is a good alternative. The green tender florets of Broccoli will again make you fall in love with cabbage family. Besan Broccoli is a delicious, mildly spiced recipe served with dal-chawal and hot roti, naan or paratha.

  • 1 Cup Gram Flour ( Besan )
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric ( Haldi )
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Dry Mango Powder
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic ( Roughly Chopped)
  • 2 Piece Green Chilis
  • 3 Cups Broccoli
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
Let us check out the steps to make delectable Besan Broccoli:
  1. Take a bowl, add 1 cup of gram flour, 1/2 tsp of turmeric, 1/2 tsp of cumin powder, 1/2 tsp of garam masala, 1/2 tsp of coriander powder, 1/2 tsp of dry mango powder, salt to taste, 1/2 tsp of red chili powder. Mix well.

  2. Add 1 tbsp oil and mix well. Care should be taken; no lumps should form. 

  3. Take a skillet pan and add 1 tbsp of oil (any preferred oil). When the oil gets hot, add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, sauté it for 1 to 2 minutes or till the cumin seeds get crackled. 

  4. Add 1 tbsp of roughly chopped garlic, two pcs. of finely chopped green chili, sauté it for 1 to 2 minutes.  

  5. Add 3 cups of broccoli florets and mix well; cover the lid and let it cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stir occasionally.

  6. Sprinkle gram flour evenly on broccoli florets and mix gently, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Let it cook for another two to three minutes with the lid on. 

  7. Tasty Besan Broccoli is ready to serve. Enjoy delicious Besan Broccoli with chapati, naan, paratha or dal-chawal.
